Prior to joining PACE three years ago, David Gorman was the Managing Director of Global Sports for executive search firm, Reilly Partners. While at Reilly Partners, David managed senior executive search engagements for sports management firm, Kemper Sports as well as searches for multiple professional sports teams and leagues. David also managed the search for the Athletic Director at well-known college preparatory school, Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City. The Athletic Director position included the additional responsibility of the marketing and management of a new, state of the art, $65,000,000 athletics and wellness facility. As a result of the high level of responsibility and compensation for this position, the final four candidates were all associate or assistant athletic directors at Division I colleges and universities.
David Gorman began his career in 1992 as an attorney and gained significant experience representing broker/dealers, corporations and individuals with securities litigation as well as regulatory and compliance matters. David handled multiple arbitrations before the National Association of Securities Dealers (“NASD” currently “FINRA”), drafted securities offering documents and handled Securities and Exchange Commission and NASD compliance matters.
In 1996, David joined IMG, the largest sports marketing and management company in the world, as co-manager of its Chicago office. While at IMG, he secured endorsement deals on behalf of athlete clients such as Jeff Gordon, Chris Evert, John McEnroe, Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Steve Stricker and Raymond Floyd. David also generated endorsement, sponsorship and television revenue from companies such as Motorola, McDonalds, General Mills, Target, United Airlines, Citibank, Diners Club, Rolex, Goldman Sachs, Accenture and Equity Group Investments.
In 2002, David developed a global sports consulting and legal practice with renowned European sports rights lawyer and consultant, Stephen Townley. Stephen Townley was one of the first lawyers to dedicate an entire legal practice to the representation of sports rights. Representative clients included Ascot Racecourse, the National Basketball Association, English Premier League teams such as Manchester City and several online event ticketing companies. David’s work on behalf of these clients included executive search and management consulting as well as legal protection of marketing, television and licensing rights.
David earned his Master in Business Administration in 2001 from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (currently the Booth School of Business), his Juris Doctor in 1992 from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in 1989 from Purdue University. While at Purdue, David played varsity tennis and was named Academic All Big 10.
